Not so far gems

To Consider... a visit to Braintree Essex,

To discover archives of Royal 2 layer silk velvet machinery and looms
and even closer in Walthamstow, the most amazing Arts and Craft Champion William Morris, who inspired by nature' beautiful willows and Arabic tiles, inspired a whole movement of artisans to create and work in the days of the industrial development, replacing the metallic screws by wooden screws in all furniture elegantly covered with willow patterns printed in his studios...

Finally if you wish to enjoy your week-end in London, walk to the Tate Modern
to discover an amazing textile artist

Textile Treasures

Revisiting the Beautiful OckPopTok weaving center  since my actual visit in May 2018
of Luang Prabang Unesco World Heritage City:

Today browsing for Luang Prabang textile weaving to supplement Textile class delivered for the British Academy of Fashion Design at the University of Westminster, with an insight on sustainable practices, I discovered a gem to share with you The Textile Atlas with a beautiful video on the Naga weaving in Laos:

Big Cats

http://natgeotv.com/me/big-cat-specials/galleries/vanishing-king-desert-lions-of-namib

Yesterday discovered another very similar jacket to the ones tested in 2014-2015, while researching other ways to quilt, and manually tried a few options, before settling for the wave and mountain pattern which was sent to quite a few companies for feasibility and pricing... in the end I picked a wavy pattern from a bedding company style book, hesitating between single curves and double: then thought the single will be more obvious, while the double can represent off-piste ski tracks in powder snow... to get back on track with original symbolic mountain artwork...

I did feel depressed on the spot when I saw the POLO jacket on sale at local TKMaxx...Oh well...

It's on the Blog...

Last night I met a friend whose artwork idea was copied online... so after visiting the BritishLibrary IP Centre, she still does not quite know what to do.
Over the years I learn to
Use it or Lose it...
As SueMe says "what goes around comes around"
was it so important to register this catch phrase which had been around?
What about NEW original designs?
 what chance do they stand?
The original ideas put into SUEME new jackets research could not be registered (as most designers know...), and when sourcing involved quilting companies worldwide to do a wave and mountain pattern to illustrate the company Ethos to protect nature by using sustainable fabrics, the word about new quilting ideas such as waves went around... and the idea entered the public domain...

Today I found a video, strangely enough researching the word CoolHearts, led to music video, and beneath the YouTube list found a trend video, which I thought might be interesting: it was a commercial video, not a trend forecasting video, and there I saw my wavy pattern used by one of the big names (I have seen around a few times already worn by people)

So do you think these companies know the original source for their new jackets quilting idea?

The author of the video printscreen below and jacket company names are left anonymous:

the important thing here is to remember not to get discouraged:
write the date of your idea, take pictures, and send to yourself as proof of origination...
--- claim it back when it comes around ---like today...

Unfortunately there is no point sueing the big guies...and fall into despair and negativity...

SPREADING Awareness and respect of original ideas is the best we can hope for...

You can see the original wave and mountain quilting stitched by hand in a locally sourced factory on the Echoic Jacket, completely sourced designed cut and made in-house (by myself) for SUEME--
it is produced bespoke in small quantities locally... www.sueme.com

From the factory offcuts (the polartec fleece is made out of recycled plastic bottles, so it would be a shame to throw back in bin) we cut little hearts to show people more can be done to protect nature and creativity... after all isn't nature our daily source of inspiration?
To see more of our little PlasticHearts visit twitter and spread the word bout positive origination...

TIP:
So Secondary Research is important, after designing your innovation, look around to make sure your idea is not too close to someone else's...
