A new brand in progress... linking ancient traditions with modern techniques.. and a new achievement:
first toile fitting: 2.9.22 ::: second cloth fitting: 6.9.22 ::: pickup: 8.9.22
Following the first family tartan gown worn at the Versailles ball, the second masterpiece followed to celebrate an occasion closer to home.
Slow processes of fit and style start with a master pattern adjusted to fabrics and size, cut as a toile to be fitted, reviewed specifically, then cut into the cloth. Tartan requires specific checks aligning and matching.
The bodice includes 4 layers to be cut: the “self” top layer, backed with cotton stiff fused interlining, two cloth internal layers sandwiching the boning to be linked to self and lining.
Pattern pieces and specifications are key final ingredients to be kept with toile for future reference and further brand development.
Fashion Challenge... for the launch of a brand... when the lovely cloth from Scotland arrived on a Tuesday... the gown was to be worn a few days later on Saturday at the Versailles Ball...
With a few prior draping sessions time stopped for a few days of therapeutic creative timespace while the dress took shape, constructed with one CF and one CB seam to respect the beauty of the checks and beautiful drape:
