The Human Touch

A Stitchuation not to be missed...

As the moon gently passes behind our earth this morning, to momentarily disappear from the sun rays, as a lunar eclipse, being a full moon in Libra, a sign ruling all beauty, expression of the soul with arts and crafts, fabrics and embellishment, we can pause and think, reflect... give thanks for our visit of the Stitch Festival where so many came to admire so many beautiful displays of the human touch in more than one way, opening views on a very big market where phones and digital technology vanish for the time of a browse and stroll, or active participation in the many creative workshops available.

As for the interested browser, we were mostly impressed by creatives who displayed something very personal and innovative, presenting a concept of value to many.

From a wide number of inspiring stories, a few individual endeavours stood out to trigger true inspiration

A lady artist at Doodlecraft Design, designing amazing intricate needle point patterns such as wolves and more evocative motifs to embroider on a denim jacket or other treasured possessions, in the course of one month, pulling thread and needle every day, counting the small 14 holes per inch to establish the outline of the design she then proceeds to fill in, all this from a less mobile situation where her knees require rest... A true visionary who calls

herself lucky to be able to do what she loves from the comfort of her wheelchair, showing us the stitches while her sister steps in to hold the stand when not at work... a true inspiration

To the gentleman at Marbling4fun, who makes appear and disappear colours like a magician, creating a beautiful sunset as a business card or covering wooden objects, tennis shoes, canvas , with beautiful marble like colouring, creating flowers, hearts of traditional motifs as you wish.. A little crowd gathers to watch him play... how delightfully convincing....

And the ladies from Seamesew Supplies selling materials to make your own underwear, the Scottish lady from Littlerosycheeks, creating fun labels to accompany your new creations, the Welsh designer pattern cutter at Trend Patterns, who offers beautiful shapes in somptuous fabrics, available to try on, and make with the help of her printed patterns, and a print artist Colette Moscrop, who likes to join printed artwork with colourful stitching

Further down the Leicester Montreux Fabrics pros offering beautiful Chanel type vintage looking tweeds, the lady who visits Bengladesh and India to bring beautiful creations back, and in case all this makes you dizzy reminiscing of hot summers learning embroidery stitches, there is a sweet merchant with tutu fruity looking candies which seems to be a big hit on the way out...

All this in the comfort of the beautiful Design Center, home to a flower market in the days, retaining a feel of grand beauty, with upstairs mezzanine where food and coffees can be find in a main room or VIP lounge...

A whole blissful experience and eye opening experience not to miss

Always trust

your instincts when it comes to be creative, Iris your Art versus theirs,

And two Center fronts it is is, on a front fly serving both lefties of righties, they all deserve a center front, indicating the button placement for opening,

And just like this amazing sunset last night, your Art and craftfulness cannot not be replicated, imitated, or bottled, they just splash and amazing,

“Pattern is Gold”

As seen and expressed by T. our serendipity friend met around the CreativeTable at the Tottenham Library

... reviewing second toiles for factory sampling and production by a new mum with baby and pram enjoying the show too,

honing her design skills since meeting up at 16 in the Bruce Grove Yourh Center turn Creative Studio4 at the BroadwaterFarm frontline for 8 years,

with long breaks creating her own career and family, never forgetting her desire to drive as a fashion designer

... working on development ideas and online presence, name searching, sourcing, “specing” (tech jargon for putting garment into final blueprint), sketching, translating:

... the way to go to discover the inner potential for creativeness, to be shared around the Globe,

Vietnam, Myanmar, India, Bangladesh, Djibouti, LA, Boston, Paris, London... Wales, Scotland, Svalbard...

Search. Explore. Discover. Spread,

... the Gold of Pattern Cutting, as T. put it with admiration, having pursued the way to create garments himself in Trinidad,

giving the power to create,

cutting in 2D paper shapes soon to be reunited in 3D wearable creative shapes...

A passion well shared, well loved, well captured   🌏☀️🌍🌟🌎⭐️

Running or rather strolling enjoying the magic of another extraordinaire show tucked in a gorgeous church building in the heart of London...

Avatar Verse Fashion Arts Attribution

For the Metaversed, D2As and NFTs are second nature,

For those interested in making a better creative world, it can be comforting to discover a few key principles are still valid and more in demand than ever,

in the world for Fashion Arts,

where moving towards global open-source "craftmanship" involves Art Attribution and Integration,

in a way which reality fashion "creators" are not always able to emulate

Googling Fashion Avatar for tennis, a whole new literature popped up,
including high end fashion games involving purchases where a virtual Gucci hand bag can cost more then a real one... going for 350,000 Robux

Iconic Plisse, IP, also stands for Intellectual Property, reminding ourselves of a dress which, made with beautiful Soleil plisse, SunRays Pleating technique, a dress which went to a secret buyer for 5M dollars, for being worn by an iconic woman who actually created the moment which created the dress, which cannot be traced back to the original designer... looping back to questions of Art creators and Ideas generation identification, attribution, protection:

one other case of unrequited love is the famous Chanel Chain usage on handbags:

if Art Attribution is becoming such a big deal in virtual life, why don't all Brands copying Chanel signature chain render laurels to the Idea originator, to show the world Art has value, and start a Foundation for orphans of the world, say everytime they use a chain on a handbag, metaversing a percentage of profits, to honour Chanel's roots of creativeness shaped while growing up in an orphelinat where she learnt how to sew.

this way passing on important skills to the next generation lacking the parental guidance those using Avatar at leisure would have, bridging the gaps, preserving ancient crafts integration into more caring societies, not more money oriented pitfalls

with 50 million people spending hours playing... creating, integrating... new avatars on just one platform,
it is reassuring we can still link both reality and virtual Art fashion into concrete verse

Base = body shape template

Integrated Fashion = Brand Collaboration

Attribution = Intellectual Property

Soleil Plisse

Glorious sunshine soleil , a step into timeless motionless stillness at Kiri’s workshop Atelier, where he crafts magnificent plisse creations...

3 meters of tartan reduced into a tiny bundle of pleats... Sun pleats

One step ahead, while kilt makers press every pleat by hand,
Pleaters carve the template they need for a particular job, and place the right amount of fabric into two layers of stiff paper they create themselves to order, place in oven, and let the steam do its job, some use chemicals, but Kiri’s method is totally natural, like his love and knowledge for plants

When, at 10:15 this morning I called him to know if he was open, he said he could do it by Tuesday, but he added, if you need to pick up your fabric, overlock and pin hem, you won t be able to make it,
I said see you at 12, and there I was, picking up cloth from Philip Lane Somalian lovely man inbetween Friday payers, Cycled home,  cut , overlooked and hemmed, by 12 I was there, with Kiri already pleating Sunshine Pleats for another designer, he kindly inserted the tartan in, and after a short trip to local Sainsbury came back to find the cloth Soleilpleated...
Wonderful
Especially at the dawn of a special day to celebrate
