The Human Touch

A Stitchuation not to be missed...

As the moon gently passes behind our earth this morning, to momentarily disappear from the sun rays, as a lunar eclipse, being a full moon in Libra, a sign ruling all beauty, expression of the soul with arts and crafts, fabrics and embellishment, we can pause and think, reflect... give thanks for our visit of the Stitch Festival where so many came to admire so many beautiful displays of the human touch in more than one way, opening views on a very big market where phones and digital technology vanish for the time of a browse and stroll, or active participation in the many creative workshops available.

As for the interested browser, we were mostly impressed by creatives who displayed something very personal and innovative, presenting a concept of value to many.

From a wide number of inspiring stories, a few individual endeavours stood out to trigger true inspiration

A lady artist at Doodlecraft Design, designing amazing intricate needle point patterns such as wolves and more evocative motifs to embroider on a denim jacket or other treasured possessions, in the course of one month, pulling thread and needle every day, counting the small 14 holes per inch to establish the outline of the design she then proceeds to fill in, all this from a less mobile situation where her knees require rest... A true visionary who calls

herself lucky to be able to do what she loves from the comfort of her wheelchair, showing us the stitches while her sister steps in to hold the stand when not at work... a true inspiration

To the gentleman at Marbling4fun, who makes appear and disappear colours like a magician, creating a beautiful sunset as a business card or covering wooden objects, tennis shoes, canvas , with beautiful marble like colouring, creating flowers, hearts of traditional motifs as you wish.. A little crowd gathers to watch him play... how delightfully convincing....

And the ladies from Seamesew Supplies selling materials to make your own underwear, the Scottish lady from Littlerosycheeks, creating fun labels to accompany your new creations, the Welsh designer pattern cutter at Trend Patterns, who offers beautiful shapes in somptuous fabrics, available to try on, and make with the help of her printed patterns, and a print artist Colette Moscrop, who likes to join printed artwork with colourful stitching

Further down the Leicester Montreux Fabrics pros offering beautiful Chanel type vintage looking tweeds, the lady who visits Bengladesh and India to bring beautiful creations back, and in case all this makes you dizzy reminiscing of hot summers learning embroidery stitches, there is a sweet merchant with tutu fruity looking candies which seems to be a big hit on the way out...

All this in the comfort of the beautiful Design Center, home to a flower market in the days, retaining a feel of grand beauty, with upstairs mezzanine where food and coffees can be find in a main room or VIP lounge...

A whole blissful experience and eye opening experience not to miss
